Board of Directors

The Board of Directors is made up of passionate advocates, urban planners, transportation experts, and community leaders dedicated to making San Diego a safer and more accessible place to ride a bike. Representing a diverse range of backgrounds, our board members bring expertise in advocacy, education, policy, and grassroots organizing to guide our mission.

Together, they work to shape the Coalition’s strategic vision, support key initiatives, and ensure that bicycling is a viable, equitable, and sustainable transportation option for all. Whether it’s leading efforts on safer infrastructure, engaging with policymakers, or organizing community rides, our board is committed to building a bike-friendly future for San Diego County.

Members At-Large

  • Daniel Gaytan

    Daniel is a public policy and advocacy professional from San Diego's South Bay with experience in government and nonprofit sectors.

    He aims to use his policy expertise to support the Coalition's mission to make San Diego more bike-friendly.

  • Virginia Lingham

    Virginia is a mobility technology leader with nearly 20 years of experience. She bridges research and implementation of emerging transportation technologies and is passionate about creating innovative solutions.

  • Gibram Sanchez

    Gibram, an urban planner, advocates for equity in transportation planning and policy. He supports the Coalition through fundraising, volunteering, and previously coordinated the Free Bikes 4 Kidz program.

  • Amanda Peacher

    Amanda is a journalist, UCSD instructor, and mom of two. She enjoys long road rides and commuting with her kids by bike. Amanda is passionate about expanding safe, equitable cycling options for all levels of riders.

  • Jesse Ramirez

    Jesse is the Director of Planning at City Heights CDC. He has led multimillion-dollar urban planning projects and worked extensively on community engagement, equity, and policy advocacy to create safer, more inclusive transportation networks.

  • Rosalind Haselbeck

    Rosalind is a climate advocate and founder of the nonprofit Dwelling On Carbon, which focuses on carbon sequestration and water conservation. With a background in biology and a black belt in aikido, Rosalind is also an avid cyclist, frequently participating in rides to promote environmental awareness.

  • Katie Matchett

    Katie is an urban planner with extensive experience in active transportation advocacy and policy. She has organized impactful community events such as CicloSDias Pacific Beach, and she brings expertise in transportation planning and public outreach.

The Board of Directors provides leadership and strategic direction for the San Diego County Bicycle Coalition, guiding advocacy, education, and community engagement efforts to make biking safer and more accessible.

Advocacy Committee

Meets every 2nd Wednesday on odd months at 7pm (Zoom)

The Advocacy Committee engages in outreach and education on government policies at all levels—local to federal. It oversees decisions on bike-related facilities, community plans, and policy responses, ensuring the Coalition’s voice is heard on public issues that affect cycling infrastructure and advocacy efforts.

Education Committee

Meets every 4th Thursday on odd months at 7pm (Zoom)

The Education Committee guides the Coalition’s education programs for schools, businesses, and community groups, aiming to improve bicycle safety and awareness. It develops and oversees safety initiatives, while also supporting volunteer coordination through a dedicated subcommittee to expand community outreach and engagement.

Outreach, Equity, and Membership Committee

Meets on the 3rd Wednesday of even month at 6pm

The Outreach, Equity, and Membership Committee focuses on building an inclusive cycling community through outreach, promoting equity, and increasing Coalition membership. It develops strategies to engage diverse communities, ensure representation, and grow membership while fostering meaningful connections to support the Coalition’s mission and advocacy efforts.

Council of Clubs

Meets on the 3rd Wednesday of odd months at 6pm (Zoom)

The Council of Clubs is a coalition of cycling clubs that unifies their collective voice to represent the broader cycling community. With an ex officio seat on the board, they meet regularly to discuss priorities, share insights, and advocate for policies that support cyclists across the region.
